In my 25 years as a coach I’ve seen the various “fads” come and go – what never changes however are the ‘fundamentals’. The most fundamental of these is the ‘moment of truth’ when the club head strikes the ball!

But before we rush on to the range, I like to find out how you find out! In other words how you learn best. A number of years ago I was introduced to the concept of Learning Styles and it blew me away. Learning Style. Didn’t know you had one? Well we all do. There are seven of them. Some people are visual learners; others like to learn in groups, while others like a list of instructions. If you try to give a visual learner a list of instructions it won’t end well! Let’s work together the way you learn best.

Now to your swing! What is actually happening when your club head hits the ball? Well, I don’t know! I can infer from what the ball does what is probably happening, but why guess? That’s one of the reasons I’m a great fan of several state-of-the-art technologies. For example, I often use Casio Hi Speed cameras. These deliver amazing detail and insight into the golf swing especially around that critical “moment of truth” at impact.

This takes the guesswork out of the analysis of the full swing. Similarly, the Zenio Putt Training System offers critical insights into the rudiments of your all-important putting stroke.

Learning Styles and Technology Analysis make up what I call The Discovery Phase.  The combination of a lifetime’s experience of the golf swing and the latest swing aid technologies adds up to an evidential analysis of your swing. In other words you can you can argue with me if you like –but you can’t argue with Physics!

Based on what we find out I’ll work with you to build an effective and realistic swing improvement Action Plan based around your goals. This is at the heart of my philosophy – I teach golf to people.
